There have been two judges handing down dubious sentences in rape and child molestation. One in Oklahoma, and one in Missouri. A Missouri man was given a sentence of probation after molesting a child for about 7 years. In Oklahoma a man was sentenced to a year with time served, which would allow him to be out in 3 months. Thankfully more charges were brought against him before he got out, but it took a lot of pushing and shoving to get the Attorney General to step in and take over the case. It would be a shame if this becomes a trend. If the courts won't protect our children, who will? We will have to take responsibility for that as parents. Set times when children are to be home, and if they are to be late, they had better be calling to tell you parents why. That is the method my son, and daughter use for their son, and it works well. Explain why this action is necessary, and have consequences if the action is not taken by sons or daughters. Times have changed and we,as parents, better be aware of everything around us.
This brings me to the judges in these cases. If a judge is as irresponsible as these two were they should be thrown out of office. There is no excuse for justice being so blind she cannot see the injustice of her actions. These children were the victims of degradation and abuse, but defense attorneys and liberal judges turn everything around and make the defendant out to be the victim of the abused. Judges are the last line of defence for the victims of crime, and if they fail in their duty the consequences are staggering. As deviant behavior is becoming accepted as a normal way of life our society is seeing the results in these two cases. Child pornography, molestation, and rape are becoming a cancer eating our children. Now people are condoning this action in that a case like Roman Polanski is being railed upon by the Hollywood crowd, even though he raped a thirteen year old girl, after giving her alchohol and drugs. Even in a stupor she said no, but it seems that if a person is famous, or rich, people want to give them a pass. It will be interesting to see how this case plays out. We are supposed to have equal justice under the law, that means no one is above the law, and no one is to be exploited by the law. No political party, or affiliation should enter into the framework of a case, nor should a person be parted out because of that party affiliation or affiliation of any kind make someone automatically guilty. That is what equal protection under the law means.
There is no more deafening sound than the sound of silence. If we, as parents, don't stand up to these judges, and confront them when they consistantly rule the way these two did the fault then rests upon us. I know, we are asked to be vigilant on so many things we don't know where to begin. One place to start is the library. records of how a judge rules on cases should be in a special section, ask the librarian. This information might even be on the internet. Vote the ones out who are lenient on criminals, especially sex offenders. Choose judges who choose to inforce the law, not abate it.
The last thing to consider is that of corruption in the judicial system. We touched on this some before, but it bears repeating. Just as corruption has no place in government as a whole, it certainly has no place in the judicial branch. Corruption is the one thing that brings a nation to its knees. When a nation becomes corrupt in high places, it filters down to all the other parts. Mexico, and other Central and South American nations have become stagnant and overburdened by corruption, which leaves the government a weak institution and one which has trouble doing simple things for the nation, and her people. Just as there is rampit fraud in the medicaid and medicare programs there is fraud in the judicial system. It is time to clean up the corruption wherever it is. We, as the people of this great land are the first wave, clearing the way for other talented groups to bring in the big cleaning machines. It is up to us to get the ball rolling, and once it starts rolling the momentum will carry it, with guidence, to the place of freedom. We have the talent to accomplish our goal, and the expertise to carry out the cleanup operation. Now all we have to do is do it.
