The usual suspeects showed up at the podium. The tension in the room was staggering. Then the words started rolling out of Senator Pelosi's mouth like a stumbling bum on the street. The nerves showed as she looked at the crowd. She knew she was in trouble as soon as the first question came roaring back at her. The mainstream press was actually pursuing the story, they wouldn't let her get by with her statement. The pressure mounted and she buckled under it. Finally she couldn't hold her thoughts, because she knew she was in the trap and couldn't get out. She had a plan, but would it work? She decided, unfortunately, to speak out against the intelligence community. She thought Leon Pannetta would surely save her. Her mistake was that he is now a part of that community, and he will defend it to the hilt. Poor Senator Pelosi, she just doesn't get it. This may be her last opportunity to recover some semblance of power, but she is now damaged goods and everyone knows it but her. Then, of course, the Democrats might just rally around you until they elect a new Speaker of the House. Watch out Nancy, if they throw you overboard, you are in deep trouble. Investigations may occur. However, if your colleagues pursue your flounderings and shortcomings as well as they do Rangel's, and Frank's, you probably won't have to worry until the Republicans get back the majority in 2010.
